Effect of Pre-Heat-Treatment on the Oxidation Resistance of MCrAlY Coatings: A Review

High-performance gas turbines and aircraft engines necessitate MCrAlY (M = Ni, Co, or Ni/Co) coatings with exceptional oxidation resistance. Pre-heat-treatment can enhance the performance of bond in following ways: First, it reduces porosity coating promotes diffusion elements within it. Second, pre-heat-treatment allows for formation a continuous, dense, moderately thick layer pure Al2O3 scale, which helps to delay mixed oxides. Lastly, proper increase grain size leading lower growth rate oxide scale. Additionally, this article proposes new directions developing more reasonable effective methods, laying foundation creation thermal barrier (TBCs) greater durability higher performance.
